About us:
Hopewood Academy is a k - 12 private school owned by a family
of educators.
The Gravley family, who together represent over 60 years
in teaching, owns Hopewood Academy.
Two family members hold master degrees in education, and
two hold bachelor degrees in education.
Hopewood
Academy was started in 2003 by the Gravleys who saw the
need for a strong academic school with a family atmosphere;
one that promoted positive self esteem for students and
creative classroom settings.
The school started that year with 24 students and four teachers.
The original school was at Burton Plaza and moved to our
current Grace St. location in the summer of 2005.
Hopewood teachers have won numerous awards and Hopewood
continues to be recognized as a leading private school in
this area of the state.
Grace Association of Private Schools in Florence, SC accredits
Hopewood Academy.
GAoPS is fully recognized as a licensing agent by the South
Carolina Department of Education.
Hopewood is licensed to give partial and full Carnegie Units
just as any other public or accredited private school.
